Paul Mooring on Ruby VM Choices

Paul will be comparing some of the available Ruby virtual machines (VMs) such as Rubinius vs JRuby vs MacRuby vs MRI.

Eric Harrison on Adify

Adify is a simple to use (hopefully) rails gem that builds up ad tags for cashing in on your users. Adify is built to work with any ad server. The initial build will only include DFP (Google Ad Manager) as that is what I need this gem for.

Chris Irish on IceCube/Chronic

Chris will introduce us to ice_cube; a library for easily handling repeated events (schedules) with an API is modeled after iCalendar repeated dates and Chronic; a natural language date/time parser.

Paul Mooring (@paulmooring ) is a Systems Engineer and Customer Advocate at Opscode, Inc. He has 5 years experience as a Systems Administrator/Engineer using Ruby for automation.

Eric Harrison

Eric (@gzminiz ) is a Principal Software Engineer and is committed to fostering a culture where communication is open, motivation comes naturally and learning and development as a team is paramount. Eric has spent the last 5 years working globally to expand his knowledge & skill set and develop world class applications. Dedicated to his craft, Eric produces and contributes to open source projects as well as giving talks at conferences and meet-ups. He is the co-founder of SmashTank Apps a boutique software and agile consulting firm out of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Chris Irish

Chris (@supairish) has been developing web applications for the past 7 years, starting with Python/PHP and now doing Ruby on Rails for the past 5 years. He left his long time job in Jan 2011 to pursue freelancing, where he feels he's found his niche. His other interests include electronic music production and video games.
